We are pleased to bring our experience and knowledge in the early childhood field and working with families throughout pregnancy, birth and postpartum into an exciting class for big brothers and sisters. Our focus is helping the sibling to feel comfortable, special and ready for the birth of their new baby. Information about pregnancy, birth and the changes a new baby brings to the home will be presented to the children at a developmentally appropriate level. Concepts will be presented through song, books, pictures, art and fun. Focus is on the birth process and will include photos and illustrations of birth and breastfeeding. Children will also hear sounds labouring mamas make and new words to help them understand labour. Each child will have the opportunity to make a special art project to take home after the 90 minute class. Parents are required to stay present during the class and help their child with anything they may need or want.
Ages: 2-6 years
Cost: $50 (including art project supplies)

Here is what parents are saying about our sibling preparation classes….
“Our son learned many details about the birth process, which proved to be extremely helpful when his brother was born.”
“He learned what an umbilical cord would look like – He learned about the placenta (the “mommy” doll was fantastic) – He learned about the sounds that I would make during labour and was not scared by them.”
“The diverse range of activities (art project, discussion, video, book, meeting a big brother) was excellent. The information provided regarding birth was terrific.”
